1% and 25%

They are just numbers, right! Either one of these numbers can represent what we consider to be a small number...or a large number. I wish gasoline had only risen 1% in the last year..instead it's risen by over 25%. Two stories have come out this month in which 1% and 25% seem to be astronomical numbers. Currently, 1% of the American population is either in jail or prison. While I never thought about it, this number almost knocked me over. And, most of them are under the age of 30. Many sporting events attract 50,000 people, and that represents 500 people in jail or prison. The combined population of Dodge City and Garden City is in that same ballpark figure. Then came the survey that indicates that 25% of American teen age girls have a sexually transmitted disease (STD..to be politically correct.) What does that tell us about how many teen age girls are sexually active...and teen age boys, also. These numbers remind me about the "joke" that came out after the Columbine school massacre. The parents were asking how God could let such a terrible thing happen. God's reply, "Sorry, but I'm not allow in the schools of America." NO WONDER OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE IN TROUBLE!
