What happened to our empty nest?

Parenthood has many blessings along with trials. It seems that God rewards parents with the "empty nest" when their children grow up and move away. Linda and I enjoyed that.....for a while.

Now, it seems that our empty nest is full of grandchildren. My son and his wife just blessed us with our TENTH grandchild. We were fortunate enough to be present for the blessed event in Liberal.

Since JR (short for Jason Roy) has a 7 year old brother and 2 year old sister, we were asked to take them for a few days so the new mother could get some rest. A few days turned into 10 days with 7 year old Jessie.

We get a few days rest before three more grandchildren will be visiting us for a week-or-so..and Jessie will come up from Liberal to spend time with his cousins. That's four boys ranging from 7 to 12...can you say "It's a Zoo?"

We will then get about two weeks rest and it will be time for Linda's family reunion which happens...you guessed it...in Dodge City this year. She estimates that 50 to 70 of her cousins and their families will pay us a visit over the Labor Day weekend.

You may ask WHY I share this. Well, I grew up as an only child with only one cousin. Bye Bye empty nest!
